BEAUTY GOON NEWS

The rules we goon by

Editorial Standards

Confirmed vs. heard

BGN covers both hard launch facts and industry chatter — and never dresses one as the other. Stories state their confirmation status: confirmed means verified with a brand, retailer, representative, filing, or the product itself; reported means credible sourcing BGN has not independently verified; rumor means exactly that, published because the conversation itself is news. When status changes, the story is updated and says so.

Corrections

When BGN gets a fact wrong, the article is corrected and carries a note describing what changed and when. Substantive updates change the story’s visible modified date. To request a correction, message Ryan on Instagram — corrections requests are read first.

Affiliate funding and coverage

The site is funded by affiliate commissions, disclosed wherever links appear. Funding never buys coverage: brands cannot pay for stories, placement in reporting, or kinder verdicts, and affiliate availability never decides whether news gets covered. If a story features products with affiliate links, the article discloses it.

Sponsorships and gifts

Original work

Stories are written by the named byline. Photography and product testing described as first-hand are first-hand. Quotes are attributed. When BGN builds on another outlet’s reporting, that outlet gets named and linked.
